I entered a juried show of 2D and 3D artwork inspired by or interpretations of the theme, “‘Arrivals and Departures”
Here are the pieces I submitted for consideration.
**Update: These were rejected for the show.
Juried art shows can be pretty shitty sometimes, this one in particular charged $40 to submit up to 3 works to be considered. That’s right, I had to pay them to reject me and not have my work shown. The response you get is even worse, because they don’t even bother to give you a reason why, no constructive criticism or anything. Just a polite, “Unfortunately, your work has not been accepted at this time. We thank you for entering and hope you consider other shows in the future.” Being an artist is financially tough as it is but when you have to pay for them to throw you a quick glance. I get that for free on the social media platforms, at least there I get a few likes and comments. I am going to try a few more in the area but will probably not enter anymore that require me to pay for a rejection. I have no problem with pay-to-play shows.
I will also enter the “Confluence of Art” Annual Art Show at the Pablo Center in Eau Claire. The show is also juried.
Artist Reception October 11th, 5-7 pm. Grab a drink at our lobby bar and join us for an evening of artful conversations.
Exhibit dates: Sep 20 – Nov 8, 2024
